Local Tarzana hospital—Providence Cedars-Sinai Medical Center—is the recipient of a record $50 million gift. And, according to this article in Candid’s online publication, it is the largest-ever donation to a Providence hospital in California. So, the medical center proposes to use the gift to support its expansion and renovations. Scheduled to be completed in 2023, the expansion plans include increasing emergency department treatment bays to 33 from 18. Additionally, there will be upgrades to equipment, increased staffing, and an expansion to the pediatric care unit.

The new, five-story patient tower will be named for the Friese Family that gifted the funds. It will house an additional 13 “fully modernized operating rooms equipped with robotic surgery and medical imaging technology.” And, plans show a hybrid suite specifically for cardiovascular surgery.

According to the Providence Tarzana Foundation, Tarzana Reimagined is the “single largest not-for-profit health care construction project in the history of the San Fernando Valley.”
